[excerpt]The MSBA’s Katrina Relief Task Force's strategy focuses on in three areas: delivery of legal services, legal furnishings and supplies, and fundraising to support rebuilding the legal profession so they could get back to serving their clients and others in need. Infrastructure Subcommittee/Furnishings & Supplies A truckload of furnishings is ready to be shipped. It is destined for one of the legal services programs whose office was wiped out in Mississippi. Desks, chairs and tables should be enroute to the Gulf next week. Additional furnishings and supplies are being gathered in a statewide effort and promoted with the assistance of the New Lawyers Section. There are drop sites identified in 10 or 12 cities around the state. We hope to gather a couple more truckloads of furnishings for lawyers in the areas of greatest devastation in Louisiana and Mississippi.
